What can I expect when therapy begins?
At your first appointment you will have the opportunity to share what brings you to therapy. We will discuss where you currently are relative to important areas in your life, what your goals are, and where you would like to be. During the intake information is gathered in order to build a clear picture of the issues that you would like to work on in order to build upon and guide treatment. Information about the process of therapy and what can be expected during treatment will be provided as well. Feel free to ask questions regarding the therapy process and clarify any information that we discussed during the session at any time.

Can you tell me more about confidentiality?
Confidentiality refers to your right to have the information that is shared during our sessions kept private between you and me. Our therapeutic relationship is built on trust and a supportive and safe atmosphere for exploration and growth. It is our commitment as well as legal and ethical duty to uphold your privacy and right to a confidential relationship. Because we are mandated reporters what you share in therapy is not disclosed to any third party, with very few exceptions including learning about plans to harm yourself or another person or the abuse of a child or dependent adult that has occurred or is occurring. Otherwise, everything discussed in therapy remains completely private and confidential.

How long does therapy last and what are the fees?
Clients are typically seen once a week for a 50 minute session; some individuals prefer 90 minute sessions, which may be provided as appropriate.
Couples and family therapy sessions are typically 90 minutes. Each person presents with unique needs, circumstances and goals, therefore, tailored treatment is provided based on these factors. We will collaborate on how long treatment should continue based on progress toward successfully reaching your treatment goals, which differs for each client.
